Feature request: ability to reduce image size

At one point, I realized that my Bear 1 database took over 5GB on iCloud. I investigated, and it turned out that when I was taking screenshots, they are in rather high resolution and took tons of space. However, there was no easy way to rectify that without a lot of manual work.

I would like to ask you to make it easy to compress/lower quality of images in Bear 2. Like in Apple Mail where you can pick from small/medium/large/original size. Something like this as an action I can perform on a note or a bunch of notes would be amazing. Especially since we just discovered Preview doesn’t allow in-place editing.

Interesting idea! Out of curiosity, most of your screenshots come from macOS or iOS/iPadOS?

You can also just change the screenshot default file type in the terminal:

defaults write com.apple.screencapture type jpg

In my case, mostly macOS.

Good to know. I appreciate the default high quality though. I don’t really need to scale down in other places than Mail and Bear. In Bear, the main considerations are iCloud space and database performance.
