Unfortunately, this comes from a strict following of markdown standards. In markdown, lists need an empty line to be terminated otherwise the last element is interpreted as a second line of the same list element.
That makes sense.
I suppose that what seems strange is that it happens whilst typing and before I’ve had a chance to create that empty line (or moved away without creating it). Not sure that I can see an easy way around that.
