What were you doing: I created a beautiful table
What feature did you use: shortcuts to create and expand the table and format the lot.
What happened: I inadvertently hit shift-command-8 with the cursor in front of the table without first a carriage return and promptly my beautiful table was magically converted into its ugly markdown version.
What did you expect to happen: The date expanded in front of the table, but not the entire table converted to raw markdown.
