With Notion often mentioned in the same breath as Bear, are there any thoughts on using Bear tables in a similar way to Notion, with calculations, filtering and whatnot. At the least, row and column sums would be most handy.

Currently there’s no talks of this at the moment. Tables are currently planned to be implemented as seen in the current Panda version.
This may be something to discuss further down the line (after implementation).
However, there’s no guarantee of it as we believe there are dedicated apps for this type of thing, and we don’t want to cross the feature bloat line adding things like this into Bear.
Also there may be technical limitations with Markdown, but i’ll pass it on and double check with the development team to gauge their thoughts on this.
