Unusual Behavior of Quotation Marks

Using Quotation Marks

What feature did you use:

What happened:
Quotation Marks

What did you expect to happen:
I expected the quotation marks to adjust, but they face the same direction. The top picture is what happened, and the bottom is what I expected to happen.

In the bottom, I would expect the apostrophe to be a curly apostrophe in keeping with the curly quotation marks.

Agree, I just pulled a random image I found to show how I expected quotation marks to work.

I can confirm this is still an issue, but only sometimes now. I’m not sure exactly how to replicate it:

I’ll add that it’s also causing the cursor to jump when it corrects that initial quote.

Got it. Those cases were not considered in the previous update but they will be in the next one.

Such quotation marks are correct for Swedish and some other languages. There are many different ‘correct’ quotation styles. See Map of quotation marks in European languages for example. I haven’t tested it, but does Bear adjust quote style depending on language? It probably should – or have an option to choose quote style …

This is still a issue on iOS/iPad,
But only if you add quote chars on exciting formatted text:
