Love the new look, but I think code blocks have too much vertical whitespace below (and especially above) the code.
About have the time I need a code block I only need it for a single line and therefore don’t need that much padding.

the current code block is designed to accomodate more than one line of text, we can try to remove a small amount of pixels, but there is not much we can remove.
If you need a single line of code you can use the inline or indented code block (start a line with a tab):
