One of the reasons I use Bear is because I want to write markdown, and I want to read the markdown that I write.
When I press keys on the keyboard to create lists, or emphasize text, I like that those keys insert characters into my document that I can see and interact with.
It seems very unlikely that hiding those characters by default would be a net benefit to me. I wouldn’t want to switch to a note-writing application that hid those characters.
